User Interface. The user interface is a standard windows-based program that loads from compact disk. All features are run from drop-down menus or command bottons. The software runs under Windows NT, Windows 2000, or Windows XP.

The first panel one gets when you run the 2D Chromatography software is:

As you can see there are many functions to the software. The primary features of this software is to control valve(s) (located in the drop-down menu under the valve function shown above) used for the two-dimensional chromatographic operation. In addition, a number of analysis schemes exist which include mass spectrometry browsers, differencing, moment analysis and the ability to form a two-dimensional chromatogram from the convoluted signal that comes off of the second dimension column.

Valve control and method types

There are four method types of valve operation to this software:

1. "just 2D chromatography" with control of a single two-position valve

2. 2D chromatography with desalting for mass spectrometry using a second valve

3. 2D chromatography with 2D fraction collection using a second valve

4. 1D fraction collection using a second valve

Method management is an integral part of this program and methods can be called up and utilized easily.
